Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research is here to help. We conduct paranormal investigations throughout Michigan and nearby states for homeowners, business owners, and property managers who are experiencing activity they cannot explain.
Whether you are hearing unexplained footsteps, voices, knocks, seeing shadows, objects moving, lights turning on or off, unusual EMF activity, or simply feeling that something is not right, our team will approach your case with respect, professionalism, and an open mind.
We are not here to judge you. We are here to listen, document, investigate, and help you better understand what may be happening.
Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research does not charge a fee for paranormal investigations. All we ask is that we be allowed to film our investigation for documentation, evidence review, and possible use in our video productions.
Your privacy is important to us. If you prefer, we can keep your name, business name, home, and location private while filming. We can work with you ahead of time to make sure you are comfortable with how your case is presented.
Property owners are also welcome to participate in the investigation if they choose. We can include you in parts of the investigation, conduct an interview with you about the activity you have experienced, and document your personal account on video.
After the investigation is completed, we will review our findings with you and explain what we captured, what we believe may have natural explanations, and what remains unexplained. If you are comfortable, that review can also be filmed as part of the final investigation video.
Our team uses a careful investigative approach. We look for natural explanations first, including electrical issues, environmental factors, structural sounds, and other possible causes. Only after ruling out the ordinary do we consider the possibility of paranormal activity.
Every case is handled with respect, privacy, and compassion. We understand that calling a paranormal team can be difficult, especially when the activity is happening in your home or place of business. Your concerns will be taken seriously.

Who We Are
Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research was founded on a simple belief: every unexplained claim deserves to be approached with respect, professionalism, and an open mind.
Don Alter is a retired police officer with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement and investigations. During his career, he developed a strong background in observation, evidence collection, interviewing, and investigative procedure. Don also holds a degree in Behavioral Medicine with a specialization in Deviant Behavior, as well as a degree in Criminology. He is currently working toward his PhD in Metaphysics and Parapsychology, continuing his study into the deeper questions of consciousness, energy, life after death, and the unexplained.
Today, Don and his team seek out answers in the paranormal world. Together, they investigate homes, businesses, historic locations, and places where people believe they may be experiencing unexplained activity. Their goal is not to sensationalize the paranormal, but to document, investigate, and help people better understand what may be happening around them.
Don is the producer, writer, and editor of many paranormal videos, investigations, and documentary-style productions. Along with his team, he operates the YouTube channel Macomb Paranormal Investigations, where they share investigations, paranormal discussions, historical locations, and unexplained encounters.
Don is also the host and creator of the podcast Into The Shadows: Macomb Paranormal Investigations, available on Spotify, iHeart, YouTube, and wherever podcasts are heard. The podcast explores haunted locations, paranormal theories, spiritual questions, folklore, unexplained events, and real investigations.
In addition to his video and podcast work, Don is the author of two books currently available on Amazon worldwide: one focused on Michigan haunted stories, and another covering haunted stories from across America. He is also working on a third book, which will be released soon.
Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research is not the work of one person alone. Don’s team of investigators plays an important role in every investigation. Their dedication, support, courage, and teamwork make it possible to conduct investigations safely, respectfully, and thoroughly. From setting up equipment to documenting evidence, participating in sessions, reviewing findings, and helping bring each case to life, the team is an essential part of everything Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research does.
